Crypto enthusiasts will soon have a new competition reality show to watch. The Next Crypto Gem will make its debut in September, combining elements of The Apprentice and Shark Tank with 16 contestants competing for a six-figure prize package estimated to be worth $150,000. The show will feature well-known crypto influencers Brian D. Evans, Layah Heilpern, and George Tung as judges, as well as guest stars such as original Shark Tank cast member Kevin Harrington and YouTuber Ben Armstrong, better known as BitBoy Crypto.
Executive Producer Jett Tang said the show’s goal is to bring crypto to a mainstream audience for the first time. The teamwork, the rivalry, the larger-than-life characters, and the out-of-the-box ideas will be highlighted, he said. The first episode’s challenge will involve contestants explaining the basics of blockchain to no coiners in order to win the challenge. Throughout the six weeks of challenges, the judges will also provide The Big Short moments to explain key crypto terms and concepts.
The show will also capture crypto culture and the eclectic characters found in the industry, including controversial figures such as BitBoy Crypto. Non-crypto personalities will also appear as guest stars, such as professional high-stakes poker player Tom Dwan. The Next Crypto Gem will begin airing on Sept. 7 on Insight TV and can be seen on major distribution platforms such as Amazon Prime and Pluto TV, as well as hardware platforms like Samsung, Vizio, LG, and others.
