Warner Music Group and Polygon Labs Launch Music Accelerator Program

Warner Music Group (WMG) and Polygon Labs have announced a new music accelerator program to onboard the next generation of blockchain music projects and decentralized applications (dApps) on the Polygon network. The program is looking for companies and entrepreneurs operating at the intersection of music, technology, and Web3 to focus on areas such as artist-fan communities, music production and distribution, ticketing solutions, music-related merchandise and digital/physical collectibles, and interactive technology and gaming.

The chosen projects will receive funding from both WMG and Polygon Labs and will also be eligible for mentorship and networking opportunities from experts across the music and blockchain industries. Ryan Wyatt, president of Polygon Labs, said, By supporting companies and entrepreneurs at the intersection of Web3 and music, we aim to encourage a new era of innovation for the music industry.

The accelerator program is the latest in a series of partnerships between Polygon and major brands, including Starbucks, Reddit, and Nike. In April, Polygon teamed up with Mastercard to release free NFTs and launch a Web3 music accelerator program. WMG has also continued its blockchain expansion, partnering with Splinterlands to develop play-to-earn (P2E) games and launching a music-focused theme park in The Sandbox metaverse platform. In December, WMG and Polygon released a series of music NFTs through NFT marketplace LGND.
